Assemblywoman Nicole M. Parra (D-Hanford) was honored reecently as “Legislator of the Year” by the California Business Properties Association (CBPA). The award was presented at the CBPA’s Annual Meeting and Commercial Real Estate Summit.
“I am extremely please to receive this distinction from the California Business Properties Association,” said Parra. “The CBPA has been a leading force in the state in representing commercial, retail, and industrial real estate interests and their contributions to our growing economy.”
Parra was praised for her years of effort on behalf of infrastructure financing and school facilities funding in the 30th Assembly District and throughout the State. Parra has introduced legislation this year (AB 1545) to ease the process for rural schools attempting to apply for hardship funding from the state. The bill is a follow up to legislation introduced last session by Assemblymember Parra that aids low-wealth school districts in completing the construction of school facilities. AB 1545 requires the State Office of Public School Construction to assess the current hardship funding scheme and recommend changes, including those to specifically help low-wealth school districts.
