Tulare County Board Of Supervisors Appoints New Workforce Development Administrator

The Tulare County Board of Supervisors has appointed Adam Peck as the Workforce Development Administrator, charged with leading the Tulare County Workforce Investment Department. A Visalia native, Peck has served since 2003 as the Project Director of the Nursing and Allied Health Division of College of the Sequoias, where he also worked on budget, program review and accreditation issues.

County Board of Supervisors Chairman Allen Ishida said while the nationwide recruitment for the Workforce Development Administrator position drew many qualified responses, Adam Peck's prior work history in job creation, economic development and recruiting was a deciding factor in the Board's decision.

"Adam is a natural fit for this job," Ishida said. "He has extensive employment development experience gained both as a former WID employee and in the private sector, and has further honed his administrative skills through his work for the College of the Sequoias."

The Tulare County Workforce Investment Department is the administrative arm of the Workforce Investment Board, Inc. It is responsible for the implementation of workforce development programs throughout the county. Principal activities include business retention and job resource services administered through the Tulare County Employment Connection. This is accomplished under a 23-year-old contract between the TCWIB and Tulare County. Under the terms of this agreement, the County uses WIB funds to provide Tulare County employees to the Tulare County Workforce Investment Department to deliver the desired level of employment development related services to local residents.

"I'm excited by the Board's selection of Adam Peck to lead the Workforce Investment Department," said Bill DeLain, Chairman of the Workforce Investment Board. "Adam will be an articulate and visible advocate for local employers, job seekers, and our education and training partners in Tulare County's workforce development system."

Before accepting his community college position, Peck was employed as a senior analyst with the Tulare County Workforce Investment Department (1998-2003) and as a job training specialist (1997-1998). Peck graduated in 2004 from California State University, Fresno with a Masters in Public Administration degree. He earned a Batchelor of Arts in Sociology from the same institution in 1995.

Peck is a lifelong resident of Tulare County. He and his wife Jennifer, who teaches at Mountain View Elementary School, have two children. Peck has served on the Visalia Planning Commission since 2006. He also currently serves on the Visalia Unified School District Superintendent's facility advisory committee and is a member of the Visalia Downtown Rotary Club; community connections he believes will prove positive  in his new career as Workforce Development Administrator.
